I, Jim Hirschberg, am proud of the quality sound that we provide for our dances.

This, of course, takes top-of-the-line equipment- i.e. expensive equipment.

We occasionally get customers that know sound equipment, so I thought I'd put this page up to list what equipment we are using in each show, but even if you don't understand how sound equipment works let me explain.....

Many part-time Disc Jockys only spend enough money on their equipment to "get by". The problem with this is that while they may have "good enough" sound for a small function, things turn sour very quickly when they encounter a bigger crowd or an acoustically "dead" room. What usually happens when guests can't hear the music is that the DJ turns up the volume. This may make sense but this small system can not generate enough power to cover the area with quality sound and soon distorts. To me, this sounds worse then fingernails on a chalkboard!

Jim Hirschberg's Sound Co. uses top quality equipment with large speakers and plenty of power but don't let that frighten you because we are NOT going to blast everyone out of the building! By using powerful, large speakers we can easily provide a warm, rich, full sound WITHOUT pushing the system past its limits. Let me compare this to an automobile analogy; let's say you wanted to travel cross-country with 5 of your friends as quickly as possible. You COULD do it in a Geo Metro but you could do it a lot easier and far better in a Cadillac Escalade- same thing with sound systems- greater power IS better even if you don't want it loud.

This page was written on 8/8/08 and equipment does change from time to time- but always for the better!

The Premiere Show uses;

2 JBL SR4733 speakers with 2, 15" drivers and a 2" high frequency horn capable of handling 1200 watts @ 4 ohms with a frequency response from 35 Hz to 18000 Hz with a sensitivity of 1 watt @ 1 meter @ 99 dB

1 Crown 5000 VZ power amplifier capable of providing 2000 watts per channel at 4 ohms for the 4 subs, 2 Crown Microtech 2400 power amplifiers each capable of providing 900 watts @ 4 ohms per channel giving the Main Show 7600 watts @ 4 ohms! Most DJ systems only provide around 800 watts total!

The Premiere show also utilizes a 2nd smaller sound system that is placed towards the back of large rooms for 360˚ of sound or can even be set up outside or in another room if your party is extremely large and you want EVERYONE to hear what's going on. The 2nd system consists of 2 Electro Voice SX300 speakers and a Crown Microtech 1200 amplifier producing 425 watts per channel at 4 ohms. This 2nd system can be fed wirelessly and is time-delayed so that there are no nasty echo issues.

I would be VERY surprised if ANY other DJ company anywhere offers this type of sophistication and quality.
